The Yobe State Police Command has recovered 54 rustled animals and arrested a suspect in connection with the theft.

According to Command spokesperson, SP Dungus Abdulkarim, the livestock—comprising 47 sheep, 4 rams, 2 goats, and 1 donkey—were stolen from the Nigeria-Chad border area.

The suspect, 38-year-old Ibrahim Umaru of Jammel Village, was apprehended on December 5, 2024, during a patrol in Babbangida, Tarmuwa LGA. He has since been arraigned and convicted.

The police urged rightful owners to claim their animals at the Tarmuwa Divisional Headquarters with proof of ownership, and advised the public to promptly report missing items to aid recovery efforts.
