Police rescue 3 from kidnappers in Niger

TRACKING>>The Police in Niger State over the weekend rescued three cattle rearers from unknown kidnappers in Zungeru, Wushishi Local Government Area of the state after a gun duel.

Public Relations Officer, Mohammad Abubakar, told our Correspondent that the unknown kidnappers had attacked the cattle rearers along Rafia Daji Village in Lapai Local Government Area of the state while grazing.

The victims, Bello Abubakar, Buba Mohammed and Buba Gajere according to the Command’s Spokesman were rescued by a team of policemen attached to the Special Anti-robbery Squad in Minna.

He said that the kidnappers took their victims to an undisclosed location and demanded the sum of N3 million as ransom.

The Spokesman also disclosed that the Special Anti-robbery Squad engaged the kidnappers in a gun duel which lasted for hours before they rescued the victims unhurt.

According to him, “It was after the gun duel that the suspects fled to the bush with bullets wounds and abandoned one AK 47 rifle with empty magazine.”

Abubakar advised the people against joining “these kidnappers that don’t mean well for the state or face the wrath of the law. ”

“The Command will not rest until the kidnappers are brought to book. They must leave kidnapping business otherwise the law will deal with them decisively.”

Abubakar further disclosed that investigation is ongoing and the Police will not relent until the fleeing suspects are apprehended.
