The Katsina State Police Command has reinforced the ban on motorcycle movement throughout the state.
This comes just four months after the state government and command temporarily lifted the ban to allow for more movement during Ramadan.
In a statement issued on Monday, Police Public Relations Officer Gambo Isah said the enforcement was necessary due to a recent threat by terrorists and other criminals riding motorcycles.
“The general public’s attention is drawn to the fact that the motorcycle ban in Katsina city remains in effect from 2200hrs to 0600hrs.” “From 1800hrs to 0600hrs in the Frontline LGAs,” a police spokesman said.
Meanwhile, the Katsina State Government has declared Monday a public holiday in the state to mark the beginning of the new Islamic calendar, 1444 AH.
On Sunday, the Hon Commissioner of Information, Culture, and Home Affairs, Abdulkarim Yahaya Sirika, issued a press statement.
According to the statement, Governor Aminu Bello Masari, who ordered the holiday’s declaration, congratulated all citizens of the state.
The governor also urged everyone to continue praying for peace, security, and prosperity in the state and country as a whole.
He also reminded the public of the state’s declaration of Yaumul Shukhur Day, which falls on August 1.
