2023 presidential hopeful, Atiku Abubakar, has faulted the viral reports that Oyo State Governor Seyi Makinde snubbed him over the weekend.

It was reported earlier that Makinde refused to meet the Turaki of Adamawa despite Atiku’s itinerary showing he was scheduled to meet with the governor in Oyo.

Atiku who had earlier visited Ogun State is on a tour of Southwest states to meet party delegates ahead of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) presidential primary, Naija News reports.

Recall that Makinde had earlier told Governor Udom Emmanuel of Akwa Ibom State, who also paid him a visit over his presidential ambition, that “you know where I belong.”

The South-West governor’s comment has been misinterpreted by many who presumed he was supporting Governor Nyesom Wike’s presidential ambition.

To, however, clear the air on the viral reports, Paul Ibe, Senior Special Adviser to the former Vice President took to his Twitter handle on Tuesday and said, “Media reports that Gov @seyiamakinde shunned H.E @atiku during his consultative tour of Oyo State are not true.

“The two leaders met Sunday morning before Atiku’s departure to Osogbo, and they had a good meeting focused on building unity for both @OfficialPDPNig and Nigeria.”

Meanwhile, a former Deputy Senate President and governorship aspirant in Enugu State Ike Ekweremadu has urged “all lovers of democracy” to shun the Peoples Democratic Party, the national delegates’ Congress scheduled for today.

In a statement signed by his Campaign Director, Ekweremadu alleged that the 3-man ad hoc delegates’ congress held earlier in the State was already a subject of litigation because it fell below guidelines.

The governorship aspirant said some interest groups want to use the concocted list of three-man delegates that is being challenged in court in the election of the Peoples Democratic Party National Delegates in Enugu today, 10th May 2022.
