2023: Emmanuel inaugurates campaign train for successor
Ahead of the 2023 general elections, Governor Udom Emmanuel of Akwa Ibom state at the weekend inaugurated the Maintain Peace Movement (MPM), declaring that the platform would usher in a smooth transition to his successor.
It was at the mass rally held at the Chief Godswill Akpabio International stadium (Nest of Champions), Uyo, the Akwa Ibom state capital on Friday, where hordes of Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) supporters throng to witness the oath-taking of the drivers of the train.
The outgoing National Legal Adviser, Mr Emmanuel Enoidem, was unveiled as the National Coordinator, who enjoined team leaders across the 368 wards spread across the 31 Local Government Areas of the state.
He charged them to be ambassadors of peace and spread the gospel of unity, harmony and togetherness in the task of ushering in a new era of leadership that would sustain the development paradigm laid down by governor Emmanuel.
However, the governor, flanked by chieftains of the PDP including the National Publicity Secretary, Kola Ologbondiyan, told the teeming crowd of party faithful, that it was time to once again rise to the challenge of sustaining the prevailing peace in Akwa Ibom by being in the vanguard of electing a successor that would follow the ideals of the current leadership.
“There must be peace; peace will bring development, investors, money, jobs for the people”, he assured and urged the people not to be deceived into truncating the already established development plans of the PDP-led government in the state.
“PDP is the only party that can ensure peace, development and unity in Akwa Ibom. Akwa Ibom is PDP and PDP is Akwa Ibom”, he stressed.
According to him, his administration has spent the last six years creating the enabling environment for development to thrive, pointing out that the achievements recorded in key sectors of the state economy, especially aviation was a product of sound policy drive.
He, therefore, enjoined party supporters, elders and stakeholders not to waver in their quest to install a successor that ensures the sustainability of the legacies of his administration in various areas of infrastructure, education, health, industrialization and human capital development in an atmosphere of peace
