Governor Samuel Ortom of Benue State has stated that he cannot abandon his Rivers State counterpart, Nyesom Wike, ahead of the 2023 general elections because he has proven to be a trusted and dependable ally.

Ortom stated this at a banquet in Makurdi on Sunday in honor of governors Wike, Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi, Seyi Makinde, and Okezie Ikpeazu.

According to him, when bandits suspected of being Fulani herdsmen attacked him, Wike was the first to condemn it.

“When Benue was under siege, he donated N250 million, and he later spent over N700 million to help the state deal with the humanitarian crisis caused by the unjustified attacks,” Ortom said.

“But he didn’t stop there. He persuaded Akwa Ibom Governor Emmanuel Udom to assist the state as well, and he donated N200 million to us.

“Is he not a worthy friend?” “He’s a worthy friend, and we’re working together to liberate the country,” he added.

Ortom stated that he will not support the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) Presidential candidate, Atiku Abubakar, and that any of Atiku’s supporters is his enemy.

“I’m not going to support any Fulani man who continues to do injustice to my people unless my people tell me otherwise,” Ortom said.

Wike thanked Ortom on behalf of the visiting governors for the honor.

“People want to break us, but they can’t because we’re bonded; therefore, we can’t be separated,” Wike explained.

Wike also advised the PDP leadership at the center to always respect agreements in order for peace to reign.
