Nyesom Wike, the governor of Rivers State and a candidate for the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) presidency in the election of 2023, has been mocked by media entrepreneur Nduka Obaigbena, who claims he has fallen.

According to Track News, Obaigbena, the chairman of ThisDay Newspaper and Arise TV, buried his mother Margaret Obaigbena over the weekend in Owa-Onyibu, Delta state.

The top echelon of Nigerian society, including governors of the states of Ekiti, Anambra, Edo, Delta, and Sokoto, Tony Elumelu, Kayode Fayemi, Charles Soludo, Godwin Obaseki, Ifeanyi Okowa, and Aminu Tambuwal, were there.

Obaigbena remarked “Wike lule” as he praised Tambuwal, whom he referred to as the nation’s “next president”.

The Yoruba word “Lule” implies “fallen or failed.” When he declared that it was his turn to be president, Bola Tinubu, the All Progressives Congress (APCpresidential )’s candidate, provided resonance to the statement (Emi lo kan).

“Tambuwal, chairman of the PDP governors forum! Tambuwal is a contender for president. ‘Lule’, Tambuwal, wake up! ‘Lule’, Tambuwal, wake up! ‘Lule’, Tambuwal, wake up! Tambuwal, the next president,” Obaigbena jokingly said.

Tambuwal, Wike, and Atiku Abubakar were among the candidates in the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) presidential primary election conducted in May. However, the governor of Sokoto State resigned in favor of Atiku, and Wike finished second to Atiku in the polls.

Atiku, Iyorchia Ayu, the PDP National Chairman, and several other key players in the main opposition are at odds with Wike right now over their choice to engage in some party activities.
