During an interview with Arise , Majeed Dahiru, a public affairs analyst, stated that the PDP lost the election because they failed to zone the party’s ticket to the south-east. He revealed that it was clear ahead of the election that the Southeast expected the PDP to reward them with the ticket after 24 years of consistent support.
He further stated that it would be better if the next dispensation in the party would sit down to arrange and rebuild the party in the best interest of the people.
According to him, “It was quite clear ahead of the elections that after 24 years of consistent support for the PDP by the people of the Southeast, at a time that they expected that the party should have rewarded them with the ticket of the presidential candidacy of the main opposition, the PDP, and the PDP did not do that and a Northerner picked it in the person of the former vice president, Atiku Abubakar, we saw the revolt coming, and the revolt indeed happened, and if you ask me rightly so that maybe the next dispensation can now sit down and re-access what has happened to it both in 2015 and 2023 with a similarly violated arrangement, Let me begin the process of rebuilding this party by giving assurances now to all its strongholds about the need to carry them along and not to take them for granted. “
