APC presidential campaign gets underway, Tinubu promises good governance.
Ibekimi Oriamaja Reports
The presidential candidate of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC), Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu, has reaffirmed his commitment to progressive good governance that will benefit the masses.
He made the pledge during the launch of his nationwide presidential campaign in Jos, Plateau State, on Tuesday.
Unlike other parties that are either stuck in the past or fantasizing about the future, the former Lagos Governor assured Nigerians that his administration hopes to continue the Buhari administration’s progress.
“We hereby reaffirm our commitment to progressive good governance and the fruits that such governance can bring to this nation,” Tinubu told a large crowd of party supporters and faithful from across the country.
“The election in February 2023 will be more than just an election.” It is a battle for the soul of the nation and our collective fate. Do we have a strong belief in broadly shared prosperity, competence, peace, justice, and compassion for all? Or do we abandon these ideals, reverting to divisive politics of the past or those whose rantings demonstrate their inability to differentiate between fact and fantasy?
“One side wants to take us back to a time that should never have existed.” Another party wishes to transport us to a past that only exists in the candidate’s mind. Neither the old nor the fantasy roads are adequate.
“Instead, we take the more prudent route to our desired destination — a better Nigeria.” This is the real significance of the election.”
“We, the APC and the Tinubu/Shettima team, seek to establish with the people a permanent covenant of progressive good governance,” he added.
“Under this hopeful agreement, we will put together the best team we can.”
“By establishing commodity boards that guarantee minimum prices for strategic crops, we will build on agricultural progress.”
“In all zones, we intend to establish agricultural and industrial hubs.”
“You will also see water catchment and irrigation systems to aid farming while mitigating the disastrous effects of climate change-caused drought and flooding.”
“We will encourage urban employment through a national industrial plan that includes tax and employment credits.”
“We plan to grow the knowledge economy.” Millions of tech-savvy, innovative youth will benefit, as will our overall economy. Talented young people will be hired by our government.
“We will bring more power through natural gas and reasonable reform of the entire power sector.”
“Our government will continue to invest in infrastructure so that the overall economy grows at the same rate.”
“Most importantly, I will make the abolition of terrorists and violent criminals a top priority.” We will improve tactical communication and mobility while strengthening our military, police, and security forces. We will use high-tech aerial surveillance to track and attack these threats.
“These insidious forces seek to destroy our democratic way of life.” I’ve got some good news for them. We will defeat their destructive way of life. They will be defeated and driven from our land.”
