Vice President Yemi Osinbajo and Minister of Interior Rauf Aregbesola are conspicuously absent from the All Progressives Congress (APC) Campaign Council for the 2023 Presidential and Governorship elections in Lagos State.
According to Naija News, Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu was named Chairman of the Campaign Council, while Senator Ganiyu Olanrewaju Solomon was named Director-General.

The ruling party’s State Chairman, Pastor Cornelius Ojelabi, announced this during the council’s inauguration on Thursday at the party’s secretariat in Lagos.

Ojelabi also revealed that he was named Deputy Chairman of the council, while the state’s Deputy Governor, Obafemi Hamzat, was named Vice-Chairman.

The council also included the Speaker of the House of Representatives, Femi Gbajabiamila, the Minister of Works and Housing, Babatunde Raji Fashola, and the Speaker of the State House of Assembly, Mudashiru Obasa, among others.

Speaking at the event, Ojelabi stated that this is the first time the state has presented a presidential candidate as a ruling party rather than an opposition party.

As a result, he charged every member of the campaign council with working tirelessly to deliver the 5 million votes for the APC Presidential candidate, Bola Ahmed Tinubu, Sanwo-Olu, and other party candidates in next year’s election.

Ojelabi revealed that the council will be supported by 16 Directorates, including the Secretariat, Planning, Research and Strategy, Budget and Finance, Mobilisation, and Transport and Logistics.

Strategic Communications, Volunteer/Support Group, Legal, Information and Technology, Religious; Ethnic Nationalities, Women, Youth & Student Affairs, Security, Organizing, and Special Duties are among the others.

“The members of the committee were carefully selected based on your individual abilities and the belief that you will collectively deliver the state to the party,” he said.

“You are tasked with working as a team and bringing everyone on board. You are also advised to reconcile apparent differences within the party that may have arisen following the Party primaries in order for us to face the election with a united front.

“I have no doubt that this powerful committee, led by Distinguished Senator Ganiyu Olanrewaju Solomon and coordinated by veteran and political management guru, Fouad Oki, will do us proud and win overwhelmingly for our dear Party, the All Progressives Congress.”

“I am pleased to report with satisfaction the party’s growing fortunes in Lagos over the last six (6) election cycles.” This will undoubtedly increase our chances of winning the election by a landslide.”
