The senator representing Anambra Central Senatorial District, Victor Umeh, has said that the restructuring plan mapped out by the presidential candidate for the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Atiku Abubakar, ahead of the 2019 general election is not clear.

Umeh, a former chairman of the All Progressive Grand Alliance (APGA) said restructuring is an integral part of Nigeria’s development.

He also said that restructuring the country should not be reduced to mere political propaganda.

Speaking on Friday, December 7, Umeh said both the ruling All Progressives Congress and the PDP is yet to show Nigerians strong commitments to restructuring.

Umeh said: “That national conference had far-reaching decisions that would help this country.”

“It also had the best brains in the country from all walks of life, numbering over 400.

“Restructuring Nigeria would make the economy of the states to rebound because people will return to their original source of comparative advantage, as the zones will become competitive, and not what we have today where state government officials go to Abuja monthly to collect allocations.

“Both the APC and the PDP have not made firm commitments to restructuring Nigeria, and any party that does not see restructuring as the cynosure of all eyes does not wish Nigeria well,” he said.

Meanwhile, TRACKNEWS.NG previously reported that a former minister of education, Alhaji Birma Dauda, has said the presidential contest between President Muhammadu Buhari and Atiku will be a tough election.
