By Adeleye Kunle
The 2023 gubernatorial candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party in Borno State, Mohammed Jajari, has revealed more details of the attack on the PDP presidential candidate, Atiku Abubakar in the state.
Recall that the motorcade of the former vice president came under attack at Ramat Square in Maiduguri, the State capital on Wednesday.
According to Jajari who appeared on Channels Television’s Sunrise Daily on Friday, one person died while over a hundred PDP supporters were hospitalized after the unfortunate incident
He said the victims were rushed to the University of Maiduguri Teaching Hospital and the state General Hospital and then for treatment.
“There were stones and sticks — so many. Even at the venue (of the rally), so many people were treated, and the injured were so many that we had to send them to the hospital.
“Over a hundred and something people were injured and one of the casualties, last night, at about 9 pm, died.
“Venue of the rally was peaceful. We came in, and all our supporters were fine. We did our rally and it was peaceful. But the same people were on the same street as the presidential candidate was leaving for the airport.”
The party had accused the All Progressives Congress, APC of masterminding the attack, alleging that the thugs were sponsored to disrupt the campaign rally
