Bauchi: Appeal Court Reverses Tribunal Judgement, Reinstates APC’s Kashuri
The Court of Appeal sitting in Abuja has reinstated the All Progressives Congress House of Representatives member, Bala Rabilu Kashuri, as the duly elected member representing Jama’are/Itas Gadau Federal Constituency of Bauchi State.
The Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, declared Kashuri, an incumbent member winner of the contested February 25 polls defeating his closest rival, PDP’s Haruna Mohammed Jungudo.
The PDP approached the tribunal alleging that Kashuri had submitted a forged Diploma Certificate from the defunct College of College of Administrative Studies, now Abubakar Tatari Polytechnic in Bauchi.
Whilst the Registrar in a March letter stated he didn’t attend the Institution, he recanted in an April 17 letter , that Kashuri indeed attended the school from 2000-2002.
The tribunal sitting in Bauchi on July 27, sacked Kashuri for forging his certificate, and further returned the PDP Candidate as winner, a decision reversed by the Appeal Court.
