Former Governor of Rivers State, Nyesom Wike, has again slammed the National Leadership of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) for reportedly claiming that he isn’t important to the party. While speaking to reporters, Wike warned the PDP leaders to be careful, adding that he doesn’t need to be a governor to prove that he is important. He said that he has contributed more to the party than the PDP leaders, making it clear that he delivered his state for the party but most of them struggled to do the same.

Speaking further, Wike said that the importance of any party leader should be based on the level of influence that they have in their respective states.

“Look at the states of these so-called leaders, how many of them won the 3 senatorial seats? How many of them can produce 12 out of 13 House of Reps? How many of them can produce all the number of seats in the House of Assembly? How many of them produced governors? So who would you say contributed more to PDP?

They should be careful, I don’t need to be governor to show that I’m important. People are saying that I’m no longer governor but it is rubbish. Your importance should show in your state, what level of influence do you have? What have you brought to the party to make it alive? But if you look at PDP, their leadership is shameless.”

The former governor also mocked the leaders of the party, adding that they were busy plotting how to deal with him but they didn’t plan on how to win the elections.
