Breaking: Fayose reportedly threatens to quit PDP
Governor of Ayodele Fayose of Ekiti state has reportedly threatened to dump the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP). The new development came after the National Convention of the party which was held on Saturday, October 6, in Port-Harcourt, Rivers state.
Punch reports that the governor outgoing governor disclosed this on Monday, October 8.
He was quoted to have said that he would renounce his “membership of the PDP anytime from now.”
He was quoted to have also added that: “After consultations, I will speak clearly to Nigerians.”
TRACKNEWS.NG had reported that former vice president Atiku Abubakar polled 1,532 to clinch the ticket.
Other aspirants were Governor of Sokoto State, Aminu Tambuwal; Governor of Gombe State, Ibrahim Dankwambo; a former Governor of Kano State, Senator Rabiu Kwankwaso; a former Governor of Sokoto State, Alhaji Attahiru Bafarawa.
Others are the president of the Senate, Senator Bukola Saraki; a former President of the Senate, Senator David Mark; a former Minister of Special Duties and Inter-Governmental Relations, Alhaji Tanimu Turaki (SAN) and a former Governor of Plateau State, Senator Jona Jang.
Also in the race are, a former governor of Kaduna state, Senator Ahmed Makarfi; a former Governor of Jigawa State, Alhaji Sule Lamido and Dr. Datti Baba-Ahmed.
72-year-old Atiku Abubakar, a businessman, who served as the second elected vice-president of Nigeria from 1999 to 2007, on the platform of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP), with President Olusegun Obasanjo.
A former Vice-President, Atiku Abubakar, was declared the winner of the party’s presidential primary, defeating the Sokoto State Governor, Aminu Tambuwal, and Senate President Bukola Saraki, to a second and third positions.
