Unconfirmed reports reaching TRACKNEWS.NG indicates that Ogun state governor, Senator Ibikunle Amosun, has dumped the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) for Accord Party.

The news was announced on Twitter by a handle (@ogun_state) citing the state owned Ogun state television as its source.

TRACKNEWS.NG had earlier reported that Governor Amosun recently threatened to defect from the APC if the National Working Committee (NWC) of the party fails to uphold the candidacy of his preferred governorship candidate, Abdul-Kabir Adekunle Akinlade.

The governor reportedly issued the threat during a meeting with some party leaders and his loyalists across the 20 local government areas of the state held at his private residence located inside Ibara GRA, Abeokuta.

The governor who briefed his loyalists on the outcome of his meeting with President Muhammadu Buhari as well as the national leadership of APC, did not mention the name of any party he considers defecting to.

But sources say the governor has now decided to pitch his tent with the Accord Party.

Already, social media is buzzing with the news of the governor’s defection.

TRACKNEWS.NG earlier reported that the Ogun state chapter of the APC recently urged President Muhammadu Buhari to caution the party’s national chairman Adam Oshiomholeover what it described as an alleged plan to impose a particular candidate ahead of the state’s governorship primary.

The secretary to the state government, Taiwo Adeoluwa, during a live broadcast accused the national headquarters of APC of acting out a script all in its determination forcefully to impose a candidate in the Ogun chapter.
