By Adeleye Kunle
President Muhammadu Buhari has congratulated Senator Ademola Adeleke, the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) candidate in the recently concluded Osun governorship election, on his victory.
Buhari noted in a statement issued by his Special Adviser on Media and Publicity, Mr Femi Adesina, that the outcome of the election had expressed the people’s choice of who they wanted to lead them.
The President went on to say that the election’s success was a testament to the maturity and commitment of all stakeholders.
“President Muhammadu Buhari congratulates Senator Ademola Adeleke, candidate of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP), on the party’s victory in Osun State’s gubernatorial election on Saturday.”
“With the election over, the President expresses conviction that the people of Osun have expressed their will through the ballot, and the will of the people must always matter and be respected in a democracy,” Makinde says.
“President Buhari notes that the election’s successful conduct demonstrates the maturity and commitment of all stakeholders – the electoral body, security agencies, political parties, the media, civil society, and the electorate – to further strengthen the integrity of the country’s electoral process.”
“The President reassures the nation that this administration’s commitment to having credible elections remains unwavering,” the statement says.
