Elections: INEC commences distribution of sensitive materials in Osun

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) Resident Electoral Commissioner for Osun State, Dr Mutiu Agboke has restated the readiness of the electoral umpire to conduct the 2023 general elections.

Agboke made this known on Wednesday in Osogbo during the distribution of sensitive election materials to local government areas in the state ahead of Saturday’s presidential and National Assembly elections.

The Osun INEC boss who disclosed that such sensitive election materials were kept in the custody of the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) added that they were at the Osun CBN office to start batching the materials to the different local governments.

In his words, “Our sensitive materials, particularly, ballot papers, and result sheets are usually in the custody of the Central Bank of Nigeria. We are ready for the election. We are here to start batching our materials for onward transmission to these local government areas.

“What you have seen on the ground are the ballot papers, result sheets for the presidential, senatorial, and House of Representatives elections. We will arrange and batch them to various local governments.”

Agboke also stated that the heavy presence of security personnel at the venue of the election materials distribution indicated that the Commission is in synergy with the security outfits in the state to secure the materials, INEC personnel and the commission’s local government offices.

The distribution of the sensitive election materials was carried out in the presence of journalists and political party representatives
