Enugu guber: Don’t go to court – Ohanaeze youths beg opposition parties

Ohanaeze Ndigbo Youth Council Worldwide, the apex Igbo socio-cultural organization, has responded to the outcome of the Enugu State governorship election held on March 18, 2023.

This comes as key opposition political parties in Coal City State have all rejected Barr. Peter Mbah of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, as the election winner.

They have all stated their intention to appeal the election results to the Governorship Election Petitions Tribunal.

However, the Ohanaeze Youths National President, Mazi Okwu Nnabuike, urged the aggrieved parties to abandon their plans to challenge Mbah’s victory in court.

Okwu stated that Mbah’s hand of fellowship extended to his opponents should be accepted in the interest of the entire State.

“We are delighted that the people of Enugu State gave their mandate to Barr. Peter Mbah, just as we pleaded with them when we endorsed him,” he said.

“Now that Mbah has been declared the election winner, the time for politicking is over; only one person will be declared the winner, but in reality, everyone won.” It’s a win for everyone, including those who ran against him.

“As a result, we urge all aggrieved parties to sheath their swords and work with the governor-elect to move Enugu State forward.” The period of litigation is always fraught with distractions, which may not bode well for the State.”

Mbah was then urged by the Ohanaeze youths to extend an olive branch to the opposition parties.

“We urge the governor-elect to walk the walk by genuinely embracing the other candidates and incorporating them into his administration,” Okwu advised.
