Excitement in PDP as Saraki welcomes 3,000 APC defectors in Kwara
– Bukola Saraki, the Senate president, welcomes 3,000 former members of the APC to the opposition PDP
– The defectors, who were received in Ilorin, Kwara state, claim their action is the result of the crises in the APC
– Saraki warns the people of Kwara not to trust the APC government at the centre as Atiku Abubakar has better plans for them
At least, 3,000 members of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Kwara state have reportedly defected from the politically fold to the opposition Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to make the total number who have dumped the party 4,000.
Leadership reports that the defection occurred on Sunday, November 4, with those who decamped claiming that they left the party because of the internal wrangling in the APC.
The report said Abubakar Bukola Saraki, the president of the Senate, who received the defectors in Ilorin, promised the people of the state that a new administration under the PDP in 2019 will benefit them than the incumbent APC at the centre.
Saraki said the PDP remains the only hope for true representation of the people of Kwara at the federal level.
The Senate president told the people that the presidential candidate of the PDP, Alhaji Atiku Abubakar, has great plans for the state.
“There is no Kwaran in the APC who has sufficient clout to influence issues for Kwara at the federal level,” he said.
He warned the people of the state not to trust the ruling APC.
