Five Aspirants Pick PDP Governorship Form In Edo State

The road to who will succeed Edo State Governor Godwin Obaseki is becoming more interesting as political parties commenced sales of expressions of interest forms and nominations.

So far, five aspirants and members of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) in Edo State have paid a sum of M35 million, each, to obtain the party’s expression of interest and nomination forms, ahead of the party’s primary to know which will bear the flag of the party to poll.

Among those who have picked the Edo PDP gubernatorial forms is Omosede Gabriella Igbinedon, daughter of the Esama of Benin Kingdom, High Chief Gabriel Igbinedon, and a younger sister [blood] to the two-term former Governor of the state, Lucky Igbinedon.

Omosede, who was a former member of the House of Representatives, was the first to pick Edo State PDP gubernatorial forms on Wednesday, January 10th, 2024.

Joining the list of the Governorship aspirants on Thursday, January 11, 2024, the incumbent Deputy Governor of Edo State, Philip Shaibu, and three others paid N35 million each to pick the party’s gubernatorial forms.

Among those who have picked the Edo State PDP gubernatorial forms are Anselem Ojezua, Felix Akabue, Asue Ighodalo, and Philip Shuaibu, who all picked their forms on Thursday, January 11, 2024.

Picking the expressions of interest and nomination forms of the party is not enough to see an aspirant to the primary election of a party, it only places them on consideration for the primary which will be adjudged during the screening of the aspirants by the party.
