Former Rep Member Affirms Wike’s PDP Membership Amidst Political Dynamics

Hon. Ogbonna Nwuke, a former member of the House of Representatives, has emphasized that Nyesom Ezenwo Wike, the former Governor of Rivers State, maintains his affiliation with the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), despite his selection, evaluation, and clearance as a minister within the federal government led by the All Progressives Congress (APC).

Nwuke has voiced the need for fostering bipartisanship in governance, asserting that an individual’s political party membership should not be the sole determinant of their potential contribution to the nation. He made these remarks in a conversation with LEADERSHIP Friday in Port Harcourt….

The former federal legislator, who previously served as the spokesperson for the now-defunct Rivers State PDP Campaign Council, underscored that the recent PDP stakeholders meeting, convened at the behest of the party’s presidential candidate, Alhaji Atiku Abubakar, should not be used as a yardstick to gauge Wike’s PDP membership status.

Nwuke expressed, “I believe we are placing an excessive focus on ongoing occurrences within the PDP. It’s true that many individuals either possess an unwavering admiration for Wike or an intense skepticism towards him. These emotions are fueling the news cycle. The prominence of the situation largely stems from Wike’s persona.”

He continued, “However, I think we shouldn’t indulge in conjectures. We cannot affirm with certainty whether Wike was invited to a particular meeting or not. What’s important, based on your inquiries, is that Wike’s PDP membership remains intact.”

Nwuke emphasized that nothing has taken place to invalidate Wike’s status as a legitimate and committed PDP member who has significantly contributed to the party’s advancement and whose contributions to the nation have gained widespread recognition.

He concluded, “Hence, I am reluctant to partake in amplifying conjectures. We are all observers on the sidelines, and we will witness the unfolding of these events.”
