Gov. Fubara Knows the Right Price to Pay, Peace will be Restore- Nyesom Wike Finally Addresses Rivers’ Political Crisis- Wike
In response to questions about the continuing political unrest in Rivers State, Nyesom Wike, the current Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), said that the PDP is actively trying to find a solution and that the issue is an internal one.
TrackNews reports that Wike, the former governor of Rivers State, has been accused of taking part in a plot to remove his successor, Siminalayi Fubara, from office. Given that Wike was involved in Fubara’s selection prior to their split, it is thought that a large number of state legislators have a strong sense of loyalty to him.
The impeachment plot led to a bombing at the Rivers House of Assembly Complex and the use of teargas and water cannons by police towards Governor Fubara in Port Harcourt.
In light of these events, President Tinubu, during the National Police Council meeting, mediated the crisis. Based on what Bauchi State Governor Bala Mohammed said, the president’s intervention indicates a commitment to peace in Rivers State.

Wike, in a video posted by Channels TV, emphasized that the crisis in Rivers is not rooted in ethnicity but rather an internal issue within the party.
He assured a delegation of South-South leaders who visited him in Abuja to express solidarity and congratulate him on his appointment as the FCT minister that the PDP is actively working towards a resolution. He also acknowledged that every politician has their own interests at play.
Notably, this is the first public comment made by him regarding the Rivers crisis. The delegation included Samuel Ogbuku, the Managing Director of the Niger Delta Development Commission.
