Ibekimi Oriamaja Reports
In Minna, Niger State, Yakubu Dogara, a former speaker of the house of representatives, and Babachir Lawal, a former secretary to the government of the federation (SGF), met with General Ibrahim Badamasi Babangida, a former head of the military, and General Abdusalami Abubakar, a former head of state.
According to Track News, the two had separate meetings with the two past presidents of Nigeria as well as Simon Achuba, a former deputy governor of Kogi State.
It was uncovered that, despite the politicians’ close friends’ claims that they were in Minna on Monday to celebrate Babangida’s 81st birthday, there was also discussion on the polarizing All Progressives Congress (APC)
Muslim resistance to Muslim Insider sources indicate that Babachir, Dogara, and other northern Christian APC officials met before determining which presidential candidate to support prior to the general elections in 2023.
Recall that Bola Ahmed Tinubu and Senator Kashim Shettima, the party’s Muslim-Muslim presidential and vice presidential candidates, were rejected by Babachir, Dogara, and other prominent Christian leaders in the APC.
Now, it is anticipated that the northern Christian APC leaders will support Atiku Abubakar of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso of the New Nigeria People’s Party (NNPP), or Peter Obi of the Labour Party in their bids for the president (LP).
