Just In: Senate Start Screening Of Kekere Ekun As CJN
The Senate is currently screening Justice Kudirat Kekere-Ekun for confirmation as the new Chief Justice of Nigeria, CJN.
Tracknews Media gathered that Kudirat Kekere-Ekun has been serving as CJN in an acting capacity since August following the retirement of Olukayode Ariwoola.
At the commencement of the screening on Wednesday, Kekere-Ekun was accompanied by Justices of the various courts and members of her family.
This is coming barely 24 hours after President Bola Tinubu wrote to the Senate, asking the House to screen and confirm her as CJN.
Tinubu had in a letter addressed to the Senate President, Godswill Akpabio said, “I have the honour to forward the nomination of Honourable Justice Kudirat Kekere-Ekun CON for confirmation as CJN.
“While it is my hope that this request will receive the expeditious consideration and confirmation of the senate, please, accept the distinguished senate president the assurances of my highest consideration and personal regards.”
