The Kebbi State Governor, Nasir Idris, has approved a payment of N675 million to 21 local government council Chairmen in the state as furniture allowance.
The approved sum, as gathered by Akelicious, covers the duration from 2022 to 2024.
The development was contained in a statement issued in Birnin Kebbi on Thursday by the governor’s Chief Press Secretary, Alhaji Ahmed Idris.
Idris quoted the Permanent Secretary, Ministry for Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, Alhaji Mohammed Sani-Umar, as saying that “the approval is for 2022 to 2024.”
The governor’s aide remarked that the permanent secretary applauded the governor for the move saying this and other projects of his government have shown that he has the interest of the people at heart.
In reaction to the development, the Chairman of the Association of Local Governments of Nigeria (ALGON), who is also the Chairman, of Birnin Kebbi Local Government, appreciated the governor for the kind gesture.
He assured that the money would capture furniture allowance for the local government council, councilors, and secretaries.
“The allowance is long overdue, but with the coming of this administration, our impeccable and amiable governor has graciously approved the allowance; this is a sign of good leadership.
“May Almighty Allah guide him and give him the wisdom to pilot the affairs of the state excellently,” he added.
