The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) internal issue has drawn more attention from Nigerians, according to the All Progressives Congress (APC) (PDP).
As previously reported by Track News, the PDP experienced a crisis when Atiku Abubakar, the party’s presidential candidate, chose Ifeanyi Okowa, the governor of Delta State, as his running mate instead of Governor Nyesom Wike of River State.

The governor of Rivers, who finished second in the party’s presidential primaries, has declined to publicly support Atiku’s bid for the presidency.

Senator Iyorchia Ayu, the PDP’s national chairman, has been called upon to resign by a number of high-ranking party members who are dissatisfied with the party’s leadership, joining Wike in this demand.

The PDP is in a serious crisis, according to APC spokesman Felix Morka, who acknowledged as much in an interview with Channels Television on Friday.

In order to divert Nigerians’ attention from its internal disputes, the PDP, according to Morka, is utilizing the controversy surrounding the Muslim-Muslim presidential ticket put out for the 2023 elections.

According to an APC official, the PDP avoided power rotation while selecting its presidential candidate, while the APC selected a southerner.

“I believe we should all pay a little attention to what is happening on the other side,” he remarked. That party, the PDP, is totally destroyed by an internal conflict. Where the focus should be is there.

They are the ones who have undervalued our concept of rotation and power equilibration between the north and the south. They selected a northerner as their presidential candidate. Due to the fairness of our party, we took it to the south.

“We have a president who hails from the north of the nation, and we reasoned for solid reasons that we should cede our presidency to the south to balance out the need for peace, unity, and inclusivity in our country.

“We did that, but the PDP did the exact opposite to move north,” said the speaker. To avoid genuinely facing the truth, people would rather talk about other topics, such as the Muslim-Muslim ticket, in order to draw attention away from the basic violation of their own constitution.

“They are the only party that incorporated the notion of rotation into their constitution, yet they shifted the presidency to the north in blatant violation of that premise. Nigerians must determine whether the need for unity justifies actually rejecting that party’s appeal for election to office the next year.
