In an exclusive report exposed by SaharaReporters reveals that Governor Ademola Adeleke of Osun State purportedly spent over N2 billion on meals and welfare packages, along with a staggering N6 billion for the operation of his office within a three-month period. This information was extracted from the Osun State 3rd Quarter 2023 budget performance report, which also discloses an additional N209 million allocated for personal expenditure in the governor’s office.
According to the state records, the aforementioned expenses are distinct from the N209 million specified for personal expenditure in the governor’s office. The detailed breakdown of the expenditures includes over N1.7 billion allocated for welfare packages and approximately N456 million for refreshments and meals. Additionally, N400 million was reportedly spent on publicity and advertisements.
The state budget performance report, available on the Osun State website, provides comprehensive insights into the financial activities and performance during the third quarter of 2023. The report details the actual inflow and outflow of resources, reflecting the revised budget approved by the State House of Assembly.
This revelation comes amidst growing concerns about fiscal responsibility and transparency in government spending, prompting public scrutiny and discussions on the allocation and utilization of taxpayers’ money in Osun State.
