Ibekimi Oriamaja Reports.

Members of the Labour party and its supporters in Abia state have been urged to remember that voting for Mr. Peter Obi, the party’s presidential candidate, and Dr. Alex Otti, the state’s governorship candidate, should be done on a single ballot in the general elections of 2023.

Track News discovered that the majority of the party faithful and support groups are simultaneously supporting only Obi or Otti and cheering on candidates from other political parties.

Mr. Acho Obioma, director general of the Alex Otti campaign organization and a former member of the House of Representatives, made the appeal in Umuahia while receiving a delegation from 170 support groups that had chosen Otti as the consensus candidate for governor of the Abia state. He explained that this was done to ensure that the party’s candidates for a number of offices succeed at the polls.

The Labour Party will be the symbol of the vote on election day rather than the faces of the individual candidates, Obioma further explained to the party faithful and support groups, so it is imperative that all members of the “Obidient Movement” collaborate to ensure the victory of the Labour Party.

He claimed that he left the APC freely because he believed Otti was the best candidate based on the competence he had shown in the organizations he had worked for.

In his own words: “On election day, the Labour Party will be the symbol of the vote, not the face of any particular candidate. Therefore, all members of the ‘Obidient Movement’ must work for the victory of the Labour Party. The entire campaign is probably going to be a waste of time if votes are split between Mr. Peter Obi, the Labour Party’s presidential candidate, and the Abia State gubernatorial candidate. In response to the urgent cry for a paradigm shift in leadership from the federal to the state level, you must make your vote count by supporting the Labour Party.

Dr. Alex Otti had already been chosen as the preferred candidate by coordinators of more than 170 support organizations for the Abia state governorship election in 2023. The coalition for Peter Obi and Alex Otti, the Abia Arise organization, the Rescue Abia Group, and the representatives of the Otawike group are among the organizations. Leaders of All Churches for Peter Obi/Alex Otti in Abia State.

Speaking on behalf of their respective organizations, Apostle Kenneth C. Wiper, Chinenye Ukaegbu, Chuks Onyebuchi, Matilda Anyamele, Sunday Okoro, among others, declared their support for Otti and said that after reviewing the profiles of all state governor candidates, they determined that Otti was the most qualified due to his credibility and competence.

We have determined that Alex Otti is the only person capable of bringing Abia out of her comatose state of non-performance after giving the matter careful consideration and considering all the information at our disposal as a group. The Coalition, made up of several other pro-Otti groups across the nation, has vowed to work with the Labour Party candidate and other Labour Party candidates to ensure that Mr. Peter Obi’s presidential campaign is balanced with capable lieutenants in the business of leadership. The Coalition has followed Alex Otti’s career since his days at the helms of apex financial institutions, meticulous and disciplined with the public’s trust in his care.

Otti thanked the coalition for the adoption and urged them to continue working to ensure that good governance was developed in the State.

“I willingly left my comfort zone in the financial sector and my position as Chairman of the Committee of Bank CEOs in Nigeria to travel to home state and stop the ongoing devastation I witness there. I’ve come to serve and haven’t wavered in my commitment to seeing that significant change happen in my home state.

“Things are not right in Abia; compare the changes from 2014 to the present to determine which of us is doing better. The truth is that Abia State has failed. A situation where people are unpaid for more than 30 months and schools are closed as a result of the blatant negligence of those elected and appointed to leadership positions should demand our immediate and sincere attention. I predicted this in 2014 and issued the warning, and I am confident that the realities are staring all of us in the face now.

You might find it interesting to hear that the funds being distributed from Abuja as part of federal allocations have run out and may soon come to an abrupt halt. The NNPC, Nigeria’s cash cow, has not transferred any funds for more than three months. This has forced Nigeria into a very bad debt situation, which may not bode well for anyone, including those abusing the privilege of leadership.

“Leadership should be left to people who can build money from nothing; I know how to accomplish it, which is why I have repeatedly volunteered for the advancement of our group. The care of newcomers to the act of leadership responsibilities should no longer be entrusted with the governance of a state like Abia, known for its commerce and industry, both of which are currently moribund. Governance is a serious business for competent and tested heads with rich background experience.

“I urge every ‘Obident’ family member to take these campaigns to the places where the actual vote will take place. For the change we want to see in Abia and Nigeria, it is crucial to vote for the Labour Party from the federal level down to the state.
