As the political processes to choose the next Ogbia local government area unfolds, the Ogbia Grassroot Frontiers For Good Governance – a social-political advocacy group, we are using this medium to call on the former president of Nigeria -Dr. Goodluck Ebele Jonathan and other critical stakeholders who have the exclusive opportunity to choose the next Ogbia Local Government Area Chairman.

We are at a critical juncture in the history of our local government area where we need a leader who is grassroots-oriented, people-centered, and one who understands the developmental desires of Ogbia People. Therefore, it is essential that we choose a leader who will prioritize the needs of the people and make decisions that will positively impact their lives. And not one who has no political history in the local government area,

We are aware that alot of Ogbia sons and daughters are in the race, including one Jeremiah whose political activities are traceable to Nembe LGA, this person in question is working as a civil servant with Nembe Local Government Identification letter. He does not poses a PVC in Ogbia yet as claim to be a political player leader in Ogbia. In the last guber elections, he was seen galvanizing political votes for the governor in Nembe and not in Ogbia, hence he is a Nembe political actor and not Ogbia. The big question is, does Jeremiah poses a PVC in Emadike where he claims to have political relevance?

As the name implies, the local government council is the best platform of government designed to attend to the developmental needs of the grassroot, hence we cannot afford not to allow a leader who is grassroots-oriented and one who is a full Ogbia man to be Chairman.

As a former President of Nigeria, you are a hero of democracy in Africa who is internationally respected and your political disposition in matters like this is intentionally taking into cognizance. We believe that your political choices and decisions should have a direct bearing on the common people of the grassroots.

We urge you and other stakeholders to choose an Ogbia man who has a clear understanding of the needs of the people, one who understands the language and cries of the Ogbia people, and who is committed to working towards the development of our local government area.

We need a leader who will focus on improving the standard of living of the people by providing basic amenities such as healthcare, education, and clean water. We need a leader who will prioritize job creation and economic empowerment for our youths, women, and vulnerable groups. We need a leader who will promote peace and unity in our local government area.
