Osun governor directs senior civil servants to take charge of LGs
Osun State governor, Ademola Adeleke has directed that the most senior career heads across all the local government, local council development areas in the State take charge of the affairs of their respective councils.
This was made known in a statement by his spokesperson, Olawale Rasheed and obtained by DAILY POST on Monday in Osogbo.
According to the statement, Adeleke maintained that it was in compliance with the judgement of the Federal High Court sitting in Osogbo that sacked the purportedly elected local government Chairmen and Councilors.
Also, the directive according to the statement is with immediate effect.
Track News recalls that on Friday, November 25, 2022, Justice Ayo Nathaniel Emmanuel of the Federal High Court, Osogbo, had nullified the Osun local government election.
The local government poll was conducted on Saturday, October 15, 2022, by the Osun State Independent Electoral Commission (OSIEC) under the Chairmanship of Segun Oladitan.
While declaring the local government election as illegal, null and void, Justice Emmanuel had ruled that the election was not conducted in consonance with the Electoral Act, 2022.
He also ordered the local government chairmen and councillors who were sworn in after the election to vacate Local Government Secretariats and offices with immediate effect
