Hon. Carter Cleopas, Commissioner 1, representing Southern Ijaw in the Bayelsa State Local Government Service Commission has on behalf of the leadership of Otuan Ward five (5) Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Southern Ijaw Local Government Area, congratulated Governor Douye Diri and his Deputy Senator Lawrence Ewhrudjakpo for their victory at the November 11, 2023 gubernatorial election in the State.
The congratulatory message reads: “we write to congratulate you on your deserved victory as the governor of Bayelsa State after a hard fought battle. Your emergence is a reflection of the fact that the will of the people must prevail.
“As you embark on the process of another four years of the Prosperity administration, we pray that God Almighty will guide and direct your steps as you prepare to provide the much-needed service and leadership to the good people of Bayelsa State.”
The Otuan Ward five PDP leadership said the victory is an affirmation of Diri’s widely-acknowledged sterling performance in his first term.
According to the leadership of the Otuan Ward five PDP, “their decision was expressed in very unambiguous and unmistaken terms as they wholeheartedly congratulate and rejoice with Governor Douye Diri and his Deputy Lawrence Ehrudjakpo.”
The group said Governor Diri’s victory was also an expression of confidence the people of the State had in his ability and capacity to propel the state to an even greater height in the second term.
They commended the leadership of the party for ensuring the success in the election and for effectively mobilizing its members to participate fully in the electoral process.
Speaking on behalf of the leadership of the Otuan PDP Ward five, Hon. Carter Cleopas said Douye Diri submitted himself to the people and that the people’s power had prevailed, adding that his commitment to democracy, non-violent elections, nation-building, loyalty to the party, and party supremacy was particularly remarkable.
He said Diri’s win was not a surprise to them at Otuan ward five as they knew the people love Governor Diri and his Deputy Lawrence Ewhrudjakpo that’s why they returned them back to “Creek Heven” as their leader, and that now it is their turn to love the people back by embarking on more people oriented projects as the Prosperity administration has done in the past three years and eight months, and added that they know Bayelsa State is in safe hands.
