The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) presidential candidate for 2023, Atiku Abubakar, and his running mate, Ifeanyi Okowa, have arrived in Uyo, Akwa Ibom State, to launch the party’s presidential campaigns.
According to Track News, other stalwarts and loyalists of the major opposition party have also stormed the state in preparation for the official start of campaigns.

The campaigns, however, are set to begin without the cooperation of Rivers State Governor Nyesom Wike and his loyalists, who have vowed not to participate unless their demand for the resignation of PDP National Chairman Iyorchia Ayu is met.

According to information posted on the PDP’s official Twitter handle, Atiku, Okowa, and others arrived in Uyo on Sunday.

PDP Plans Last-Minute Wike Deal
Meanwhile, the PDP is preparing to present a new deal to Governor Nyesom Wike’s camp as the party officially launches its presidential campaign for 2023.

It will be remembered that the clash between Wike and the PDP presidential candidate, Atiku Abubakar, posed a significant threat to the party’s fortunes in the 2023 elections.

The PDP Board of Trustees (BoT), led by Adolphus Wabara, is expected to make another offer to the Wike camp as part of efforts to bring them on board.

However, a source who spoke to Daily Trust on Sunday about the new move all but ruled out Ayu’s resignation in the new move.

It was also stated that the BoT’s recommendation, which serves as an advisory body, is subject to approval by the National Working Committee (NWC), Atiku, and Wike himself.
