PDP chieftain endorses Tambuwal for PDP presidential candidacy
– Kenneth Imansuangbon expressed confidence in Tambuwal’s ability to govern Nigeria well
– The PDP chieftain called on Nigerians to support the Sokoto governor’s presidency
– He said Tambuwal’s experience will help him manage the country’s affairs
Kenneth Imansuangbon who is a chieftain of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has called on Nigerians to support Governor Aminu Tambuwal’s presidential ambition insisting he is the best man for the job.
The Punch reports that Imansuangbon said this in Edo state while speaking with the delegates ahead of the party’s primary which is scheduled for Saturday, October 6.
The PDP chieftain noted that Tambuwal’s past record already makes him the best candidate for the PDP and by extension to rule the country in 2019.
He said:“Tambuwal is experienced. I believe in him and his candidacy. I have confidence in him because I believe he will fix the Nigerian economy, create jobs for the youth, stabilise the country, tackle insecurity genuinely and restore citizens’ confidence in democracy.”
TRACK NEWS had reported that Tambuwal said that he will bring about restructuring in the country’s politics and economy through realistic strategies.
Tambuwal said that in order to foster transparency, professionalism, and discipline in the conduct of government business, he will separate the offices of the accountant general and that of the attorney general of the federation, if elected as president in 2019, Vanguard reports.
The aspirant said this as he revealed his vision and mission to PDP delegates in Katsina and Jigawa states. Tambuwal said: “For there to be transparency, fiscal discipline and professionalism, the office of the accountant general of the federation must be separated from that of the accountant general of the Federal Government.
“This will be one of the first key interventions of my government. The accountant general of the federation should be a pure professional, whose loyalty must be to the federation, not the Federal Government alone. In the same manner the Attorney General must not necessarily be the Minister of Justice and must not be a card-carrying member of any political party.
“The idea, for instance, of making a card carrying member of a political party an Attorney General of the Federation already compromises that office. The Attorney General ought not to be an agent of the government in power.
“The office should at all times serve the interest of the nation and the totality of the citizenry. To achieve a restructuring of these two critical offices of the federation, the former Speaker, House of Representatives, promised that his administration, shall initiate an amendment of the requirement of the constitution that says that every minister appointed by the federal government must be a card carrying member of a party in order to correct this .
“This is to ensure that the attorney general is a core professional that will work for the entire nation and deliver to the best of his ability, without prejudice
