PDP Sets Date for Screening of Ondo Governorship Aspirants

The National Working Committee of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has scheduled March 27, 2024, for the screening of its governorship aspirants in Ondo State.

This comes ahead of the state’s governorship election, which the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has fixed for November 16, 2024.

In accordance with the party’s timetable, the congress to select the PDP’s governorship candidate will take place on Thursday, April 25, 2024. The sale of expression of interest, nomination forms, and Ad-hoc forms began on March 7 and ended on March 21. The deadline for submitting completed forms is March 25.

Among the aspirants who purchased the forms are former State Deputy Governor Agboola Ajayi, Akinwumi Adeolu, Bamidele Akingboye, Olusola Ebiseni, Kolade Akinjo, Bosun Arebuwa, and John Mafo.

The PDP also announced the appointment of former Governor of Ebonyi, Sam Egwu, as the Chairman, and Chief Rahman Owokoniran as the Secretary of the Ondo State Screening Committee. Other members of the committee include Sen. Isa Shuaibu Lau, Chief Emmanuel Ogidi, Barr. Mrs. Olivia Dazyman, Barr. Tanko Beji, Amb. Mrs. Gladys Ashemuke, and Caroline Akinsete as the Administrative Secretary.

A statement by the party’s National Publicity Secretary, Debo Ologunagba, urged all governorship aspirants, stakeholders, leaders, and members of the PDP in Ondo State to take note of the schedule and adhere to it.
