Rivers Crisis: 3 More Commissioners, Others Resign From Fubara Cabinet

Published

on

Three additional Commissioners have stepped down from their roles within the administration of Rivers State Governor, Siminalayi Fubara.

The most recent resignations involve Hon. Austin Ben-Chioma, Commissioner of Environment; Dr. Gift Worlu, Commissioner of Housing; and Dr. Jacobson Nbina, Commissioner of Transport.

In addition to the commissioners, Marshal Obuzor, the Special Assistant to the Governor on Social Media, and Hon. Darlington Orji, Chief of Staff to the Ikwerre local government council, have also submitted their resignations.

Sources suggest that the departure of these five government officials may be linked to the ongoing conflict between Governor Fubara and his former mentor, Nyesom Ezenwo Wike, the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT).

While Ben-Chioma, Worlu, Nbina and Obuzor served in various capacities under the immediate-past administration of Governor Wike, Orji was state publicity secretary of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).

The resignation of the five officials bring to 11 the number of government appointees that have resigned from the Fubara-led government in the past 24 hours.

Others were the Commissioner for Finance, Hon. Issac Kamalu, the Commissioner for Social Welfare, Mrs. Chinwenwo Aguma and the Commissioner for Education, Professor Chinedu Mmom.
