Rivers Crisis: Wike Lands In Port Harcourt Despite Warnings, Threats From Gov Fubara’s Loyalists
The arrival of the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, in Port Harcourt, the capital of Rivers State, on Saturday, marked a contentious moment amid warnings and threats from loyalists of Governor Siminalayi Fubara.
Despite opposition, Wike ventured into the state, challenged by figures like Honourable Boma Goodhead, a House of Representatives member, who openly dared him not to set foot in Rivers State again. Goodhead and other protesters voiced their determination not to idly witness what they perceived as Wike’s attempt to control the destiny of Rivers State. The message was clear: they demanded intervention, urging Ahmed Bola Tinubu to rein in Wike and prevent further disruptions to the state’s peace.
Undeterred, Wike’s entrance into Rivers State was a spectacle, accompanied by notable figures such as Senator Barry Mpigi, Senator Allwell Onyesoh, Minister of State for Petroleum Heineken Lokpobiri, as well as members of the Rivers Assembly and local government chairmen.
