Showdown looms as Buhari Campaign Organisation vows to take over NASS if Saraki refuses to resign
– The Buhari Campaign Organisation has vowed to take over the National Assembly if Senate President Bukola Saraki refuses to resign
– The group urged Saraki to be mindful of the path taken by Senator Godswill Akpabio, and resign honourably
– The invasion plan was also supported by the All Progressives Congress (APC), which said the wish of the people should be respected in a democracy
The Buhari Campaign Organisation (BCO) on Sunday night, August 12, vowed to physically take over the National Assembly complex if Senate President Bukola Saraki does not resign from office.
The coordinator of the group, Danladi Fasali, disclosed the group’s plan while speaking during the inauguration of the Ogun state secretariat of the Buhari Support Group, Vanguard reports.
TRACKNEWS.NG gathers that Fasali called on Saraki to resign honorable; if not, they would carry out the plan.
He said: “We, the Buhari Campaign Organization, are saying that the Senate president, Bukola Saraki, should take a bow and resign honourably.
“He should also be mindful of what happened and how Senator Godswill Akpabio resigned because the position he was holding in the National Assembly is zoned to the PDP; and immediately he left the party, he honourably resigned.
“We expect Saraki to do that; but, we are assuring him that the BCO will take over the National Assembly if he continues to demonstrate his impunity. He lacks a sense of direction, and he wants to truncate the present democracy.
“We are assuring you that before their resumption date, if nothing is done, the BCO will take over the National Assembly.”
The invasion plan was also reportedly supported by the All Progressives Congress (APC), which said the wish of the people should be respected in a democracy.
The acting national publicity secretary of the party, Yekini Nabena, however said the APC would not join in in mobilising for the showdown.
He said: “It is the wish of the people, and there is nothing anybody can do about that. If the people are saying Saraki must resign, that is their wish. But the party itself will not stage a protest to the NASS.”
This development follows a previous report by TRACKNEWS.NG, that some senators belonging to the All Progressives Congress called for the immediate resignation of Senate President Bukola Saraki, after he quit the ruling party.
The senators said they will push for Saraki’s resignation, in response to the Senate president’s exit from the party.
