The Kano State Commissioner for Information, Muhammad Garba, has boasted that the All Progressives Congress (APC) presidential candidate, Bola Tinubu, will defeat his New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP) counterpart, former governor of the state Rabiu Kwankwaso, just as MKO Abiola defeated Bashir Tofa i.
According to Track News, he said this while speaking at a lecture organized by the Kaduna State chapter of the League of Veteran Journalists under the theme “Let’s Talk Nigeria” in collaboration with Arewa House and Hamdala Hotel.

He also claimed that Kano State will vote en masse for Tinubu, claiming that a single local government can provide more votes than the entire South-East.

“I know the former governor of the state is also going to be on the ballot,” Garba, a former President of the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ), said.

“However, history will repeat itself in Kano because in the 1993 presidential election, late Moshood Abiola of the defunct SDP defeated Kano-born late Bashir Tofa of the defunct NRC.”

“I’m confident Kano state will produce a large number of votes in 2023.”

“The votes from the state’s Nasarawa Local Government alone outnumber the votes from the entire South East combined.”

“Insha Allah, I am confident that we will deliver Kano State to the APC.”

“The state government will create an enabling environment for all candidates, and anything is possible.”

“All candidates will undoubtedly receive votes based on how the electorate perceives them.”

“Kano State has had good security, and my governor has created an enabling environment for everyone, regardless of tribe, ethnicity, or religion.”

“Kano State, with the most people in northern Nigeria, is the most peaceful.”
