Tinubu’s NYSC Certificate Surfaces, Heightens Allegation Of Forgery
President Bola Tinubu’s certificate issued to him by the National Youth Service Corp, NYSC, has surfaced, leaving Nigerians abuzz with mixed reactions.
The certificate, which was made public by The Peoples Gazette has a different name from the name on the Chicago State University degree certificate Tinubu claimed belonged to him.
The publication noted that in the build up to the presidential election, President Tinubu submitted a youth service certificate that spelt out his full name as Bola Adekunle Tinubu to INEC on June 17, 2022.
But at the deposition this week, Chicago State University said the name ‘Bola A. Tinubu’ which is spelt on the certificate in its possession is the contraction form of ‘Bola Ahmed Tinubu’ not Bola Adekunle Tinubu.
The school had also said its position that President Bola Ahmed Tinubu was its former student was based on the assumption that Bola A. Tinubu’s transcripts belonged to the Nigerian leader.
The school further said it found no passport, social security card, driver’s licence or other forms of photo ID on record to match the former student’s face with the Nigerian leader’s.
Meanwhile, the ongoing battle to oust President Bola Tinubu for his documented misdeeds heightened this week after the American institution testified under oath that the Nigerian leader presented a forged degree certificate to the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) in the build up to the presidential election.
According to Peoples Gazette, the official repudiation of Mr Tinubu’s certificate (the only academic qualification he presented to INEC) came at a deposition of school officials on Tuesday in Chicago.
Caleb Westberg, the registrar at Chicago State University, said Mr Tinubu’s certificate, dated June 22, 1979, and tendered to INEC on June 17, 2022, was not issued by the school.
