Controversial Nigerian singer Habeeb Okikiola, popularly known as Portable, has publicly criticized rapper Olamide over what he described as “half support” in his music career. The outspoken artist aired his grievances during a live session on social media, where he addressed the level of backing he received from some top figures in the industry.

Portable expressed disappointment in Olamide, who is widely credited for helping launch his mainstream success with the hit song Zazuu Zeh in 2021. According to Portable, while Olamide initially gave him a platform, he failed to provide full support in the long run.

In his words, “Olamide only gave me half support. He brought me out but didn’t follow through. If you want to help, help all the way.” The singer suggested that after introducing him to the limelight, Olamide moved on, leaving him to figure things out on his own.

Despite the criticism, Portable acknowledged that Olamide’s role was pivotal in his rise to fame, but he insisted that more could have been done to guide and mentor him as a young artist navigating the complexities of the music industry.

In the same breath, Portable explained why he would never speak negatively about British-Nigerian rapper Skepta, who recently collaborated with him. He said Skepta had gone out of his way to support him without conditions and had shown genuine respect and interest in his career.

“Skepta na legend. He dey support with full chest. He no use me shine, he carry me along,” Portable said, praising the international artist for featuring him in both music and fashion events abroad.

The singer noted that Skepta’s efforts extended beyond music, as he included him in global appearances, including at fashion shows in London and Paris. Portable added that the UK rapper treated him like an equal and did not look down on him or limit his exposure.

Portable’s comments stirred reactions on social media, with many fans divided over his remarks about Olamide. While some agreed with his claim that many top artists offer limited support to up-and-coming acts, others criticized him for being ungrateful to someone who gave him his initial break.

Olamide has not responded publicly to Portable’s accusations. Known for his quiet and reserved demeanor offstage, the YBNL boss has often avoided controversies, especially when it comes to artists he has previously supported.

This isn’t the first time Portable has been involved in public disputes. The singer is known for his brash personality and unfiltered statements, often airing personal grievances online. His latest outburst continues to fuel his reputation as one of the industry’s most controversial voices.

Despite the drama, Portable’s fan base remains solid, and his music continues to attract attention for its street appeal and raw energy. His collaboration with Skepta has also opened new international doors, which he says he hopes to build on without interference or conditional support.
