Prophet Joshua Iginla, General Overseer of the Champions Royal Assembly, has urged All Progressives Congress presidential candidate Bola Tinubu to reconsider his Muslim-Muslim presidential ticket.
According to renowned clergy, the single-faith ticket is a sign of war and should be addressed prior to the 2023 general elections.

During a weekend address to his Church members in Abuja, Prophet Iginla called Tinubu’s decision insensitive.

If Nigeria is to be great again, he believes that equity, justice, and sensitivity must be prioritized. Iginla emphasized that Nigeria does not belong to any religion, and he urged political leaders in the country to save the country from the unexpected.

“I asked myself, in a country like Nigeria with so many strong religious beliefs, why will the ruling party go for a Muslim-Muslim ticket?” the cleric said. Why will their presidential candidate, Bola Tinubu, hold such an opinion? If we don’t know, we’re sounding the war drum in a place where, despite our differences, there is unity, peace, and understanding.

“Nigeria is a country for all people and does not adhere to any particular religion.” It has never happened in this country before. Why is it now?

“If we are to make Nigeria great, we must make equity, justice, and sensitivity the watchwords of our leaders.” In my heart, I beg; this was not the Nigeria I was born into. This was not the Nigeria for which our great heroes fought. What exactly is going on? Please save us, our leaders, because the Muslim-Muslim ticket is a sign of war.”

According to Track News, Tinubu chose Borno State Senator Kashim Shettima as his running mate for the 2023 election just a few days ago.

The former Lagos Governor, a Muslim from the southern part of the country, chose Shettima, a devout Muslim from the north.

Tinubu’s selection has elicited reactions and calls for reconsideration from Nigerians who had hoped for a Christian running mate.
