I wish to inform Niger Deltans that, the Ijaw Youth Council (IYC) Worldwide, will jealously do everything within its capacity to ensure a substantive board in the NDDC is appointed, which will oversee the physical and socioeconomic development of our region.
Anything contrary to the above, or anyone indulging in the opposite direction to flagrantly dishonour the board’s establishment act is an enemy to the development of the Niger and its people.
The Niger Delta discourse is to have full-fledge autonomy of its resources. These agitations gave birth to the NDDC: where people fought and died for it to be established, hence as Niger Deltans the NDDC is our pet project, and we will explore all legal windows to reject Akpabio’s sole administrator employed as a pretext to further our underdevelopment with agents of Niger Delta’s development paralysis.
So, the appointment of Mr. Effiong Akwa, as the sole administrator is, therefore, illegal and a premeditated ploy by the Honorable Minister of Niger Delta Affairs to deliberately instigate mayhem or chaos in the Niger Delta by appointing his crony so as to truncate a forensic audit a substantive board when appointed with the requisite support can prudently manage.
Mr. Akwa and his longterm political benefactor should be aware of the far reaching implications and consequences of their actions and how posterity will judge their thirst to hold on to power.
When the history of the NDDC is written, Akpabio and all those in support of a sole administrator will be in the wrong side of history because of the imprudent decision to the continuous violation of the NDDC act, which is a clear precipe of Akpabio’s autocratic nature to undermine his people, the Niger Delta people.
I want to, therefore, appreciate all well-meaning Niger Deltans for their exemplary resilience and continued courage in the phase of provocative arrogances by a strange name such as sole administrator of the NDDC, which is against natural justice, ethics and laws of the act itself. The IYC urges all Ethnic groups in the Niger Delta to continue to stand with the IYC in solidarity because the IYC will speak for the silent majority in the Niger Delta for social inclusion, fairness, equity and justice.
For the sake of emphasis, I want to repeat an earlier remark once again that: when the NDCC was established people fought and died, therefore, we will do everything possible even if it means giving our lives for the overall good of the Niger Delta the IYC will lead because we have led by example previously and we will not allow indignified bedfellows the founding vision of the IYC.
Enough is enough!
Thank you all.
Comrade Frank Pukon, IYC Secretary-General
