Ibekimi Oriamaja Reports.

Mohammed Al-Basir, the All Progressives Congress candidate for the Nasarawa/Toto Federal Constituency, has filed a lawsuit against the party over the recent primary election.
The aspirant also dragged House of Representatives member Ari Abdulmumuni, who was declared the winner of the May 29, 2022 election, according to Track News.

After the case was adjourned on Wednesday, plaintiff’s counsel Mathew Bukaa told journalists that his client had won the election.

“My client won the Nasarawa/Toto Federal Constituency primary election, and the party cannot assume court powers,” he said.

Only the court has the authority to overturn an election result if the winner has been declared.

“Since a primary election was held and a winner was selected, the party has no right to hold another primary for the same position.”

The attorney explained that Al-Basir had been declared the election winner, and they wanted the court to uphold that decision because no other court had overturned it.
