TRACKING_____Primate Babatunde Elijah Ayodele (JP) of INRI Evangelical Spiritual Church Lagos, who was honoured as the United Nations Ambassador for Peace Award last year, hosted the United Nations 75th anniversary and the flag-off of the United Nations Online Conversation holding in Nigeria for the first time.
The auspicious, event which gathered eminent personalities in the society and international community held on Thursday, at his church premises at Oke-Afa, Egigbo in Lagos State.
Ambassador Per Stafsen, the World Peace President, who came from Denmark to represent United Nations at the occasion, in his welcoming note, said: “Today marks a turning point in the history of international community as we have gathered here to flag-off the United Nations Online Conversation for the first time in Nigeria and second in the world soon as it was launched a week ago by His Excellency, Antonio Gutteres, Secretary-General of United Nations.
“The online conversation is geared towards assembling 10 million Nigeria voices that will engage the United Nations with opinions and suggestions that will strengthen their global mandate for the future we want and the United Nations we need. It is on this peace mission that we were able to receive the nomination and acceptance made for the honour done on His Excellency, Primate Ayodele as an Eminent Peace Ambassador. I need no prophet to direct intellectual compass to say that Amb. Babatunde Ayodele is a good man, a man of service to God and humanity. In no distant time, the international community will immortalize his name and publish his achievements above his contemporaries for posterity sake.”
Lagos State Governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu, who was represented by the Commissioner for Home Affairs, Prince Anofiu Olanrewaju Elegushi, congratulated the Primate for his appointment and pledged the state’s support to his works with the United Nations.
Ambassador Chinedu Anthony, Country Director of South Africa World Peace and the man that honoured T. D. Jakes with the same award in Nairobi, Kenya this year, was also present at the occasion and expressed his satisfaction that Primate Ayodele was chosen to flag-off this great event for the first time in Nigeria because of his contribution to humanity.
The event was also the annual thanksgiving and appreciation day of the church and as it is the custom of the Primate, it is an opportunity to serve the poor.
Primate Ayodele touched the lives of a lot of indigents at the event by empowering thousands of youths with tricycles and other home appliances to the poor. He also empowered thousands of widows with accommodation and general welfare.
