Remains of Balogun Mumini of Yorubaland, Alhaji Rasheed Adesokan buried in Ibadan

The remains of Balogun Mumini of Yorubaland, Alhaji Rasheed Adesokan, have been buried.

Track news learnt that the retired captain died on Saturday.

The deceased died while receiving treatment at the University College Hospital (UCH) Ibadan.

Adesokan was the Baale of Bodija in Ibadan and at the same time, Director General of Centre for Islamic Information and Youth Development in Ibadan.

Track news reports that the deceased has been buried.

Our correspondent learnt that the Janazah prayer for the deceased was held at UCH Central Mosque on Sunday.

The remains of the deceased were then moved to Eternal Home Cemetery, located along the Ibadan-Oyo Road, Motunde village in Oyo state where he was buried.

He was buried amidst tears.

The burial of the deceased was attended by members of his family, friends and Islamic clerics cut across Ibadan and other areas.

Dabiri-Erewa, MMPN, UCH Muslim community react

Meanwhile, some of the notable personalities and organisations have described the death of the deceased as a great loss to the Muslim community and humanity in general.

Chairman/Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Nigerians in Diaspora Commission (NIDCOM), Hon. Abike Dabiri-Erewa described the death of the deceased as a great loss.

Dabiri-Erewa in a message sent to the family of the deceased in Ibadan, said the global community as well as the Muslim community in Nigeria will miss the wisdom and counsel of the late community leader.

She said, “It is indeed sad and painful that Nigeria will lose such a good man when the country needed his words of wisdom more during this challenging period.

“May Allah be with the family and the community he left behind, forgive his shortcomings and reward him with al-janah firdaus”.

The Muslim Media Practitioners of Nigeria (MMPN) in its own reaction, described the deceased as a role model, mentor and philanthropist of note
