Remation Services Limited Urges Gov. Diri To Fast-Track Payment Of Long-Overdue N1.3 Billion Judgment Debt

In a renewed call for justice and financial relief, Rematon Services Limited, a respected indigenous construction firm, has issued a passionate appeal to His Excellency, Senator Douye Diri, Governor of Bayelsa State, for the timely perfection and commencement of payment of a judgment debt amounting to ₦1.3 billion — a debt that has lingered unpaid for over 15 years.

Founded by the late Bayelsan architect, Arch. Reuben Ojokojo, Rematon Services Limited was contracted to construct the Bayelsa State High Court Complex, the current headquarters of the state’s judicial arm. Despite completing this pivotal infrastructure project, the company has faced relentless financial hardship due to the state’s longstanding delay in honoring its financial obligation.

In a public statement signed by Arch. Pst. (Mrs.) Boma Ojokojo, the widow of the founder and current head of the company, she acknowledged the Bayelsa State Government’s recent approval—via a letter from the Attorney General—for the payment of the ₦1.3 billion as full and final settlement of the judgment debt and accrued interest. This amount was approved to be paid in 20 monthly installments.

While the company expressed gratitude for this progress, Mrs. Ojokojo strongly appealed to Governor Diri to reconsider the lengthy payment spread.
She urged the Governor to abridge the payment period to six months. However, the state, through the Honorable Attorney General insisted that the government does not have the funds to pay the judgment debt in six months’ time. Showing willingness to resolve the matter as soon as possible, Mrs. Ojokojo has in a letter to the Attorney General and Commissioner for Justice, dated the 2nd day of July 2025, proposed a new payment plan of ten months to which the government has not responded till date.

As this matter reaches a critical juncture, Rematon’s appeal goes beyond corporate interest—it is a human story of a widow stewarding her late husband’s legacy under extreme financial pressure. A timely resolution by Governor Diri would not only affirm his compassionate leadership but also send a powerful message of support for indigenous contractors and faith in the rule of law.

The eyes of many—stakeholders, business owners, and citizens alike—are now fixed on the Governor’s next move.
