Rivers Administrator Kicks As Contractor ‘Slows Down’ Re-construction Of State Assembly

The sole administrator of Rivers state, Ibok-Ete Ibas, has kicked over what he described as the slow pace of work on the Rivers State House of Assembly Complex project.

Ibas expressed disappointment over the project during an inspection tour of the project site on Friday.

He described the progress as “grossly abysmal” and falling far below expectations, the sole administrator stated that the contractor’s performance was unacceptably slow, contrary to agreed timelines.

“On the performance level right now, I think the contractor needs to do more. And from the reports rendered by the consultants, they are not moving fast enough—and that is not good enough,” he said.

The administrator stressed that the pace of work was far below acceptable standards and demanded immediate action to expedite the project.

To address the delays, Ibas issued a firm directive to the contractor to intensify efforts and expedite work to meet the project’s deadline.

“This project is of strategic importance, and any further delays will not be tolerated. We must all commit to doing what is necessary to meet the expectations of the people,” he emphasized.

“A high-level meeting will be convened to address bottlenecks and ensure compliance with agreed timelines,” he added.
