Following the People’s Democratic Party primaries which held at the Rumuepirikom civic center under the watchful eyes of party delegates and officials of the Rivers State Independent Electoral Commission (RSIEC) Dr. Gift Worlu has emerged as the official flagbearer of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) for Obio/Akpor Local Government Area.
The Electoral Officer for Obio/Akpor, Mr. Dimpka Harcourt who declared the results, announced Dr. Worlu as winner and PDP flagbearer for the Obio/Akpor Chairmanship race.
Speaking shortly after his victory at the primaries, Dr. Gift Worlu expressed gratitude to the leadership and delegates of the party for the confidence reposed in him.

He pledged to prioritize human capital development, assuring that under his administration, the people of Obio/Akpor would experience the true dividends of democracy through impactful programs and policies.
Dr. Worlu further thanked God Almighty and also the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Chief Nyesom Wike for finding him worthy to serve.
Key political figures from Obio/Akpor local government area including the Minority Leader of the House of Representatives, Barr. Kingsley Ogundu Chinda, Speaker of the Rivers State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Martin Chike Amaewhule, amongst others were present during the party primaries.
