An aspirant for the Akwa Ibom State House of Assembly, Mrs Ekenim Onofiok, has been accused of certificate forgery.

Ekenim Onofiok from zone A in Udung Uko is contesting for Oron/Udung Uko State Constituency office.

aspirant for Oro Federal Constituency, Engr Kininyi Edubio, gave reasons Mrs Ekenim Onofiok should be disqualified from standing the Peoples Democratic Party’s, PDP’s primaries.

According to the petition, the aspiration of Ekenim Onofiok was not supported by zoning, even as she is alleged to have lacked the basic qualification, a valid and verifiable “First School Leaving Certificate”.

The petition dated May 4 and now appears online, also cited abysmal performance of Mrs Onofiok as the political leader of Udung Uko local government area and the deliberate hijacking of delegates process.

Kininyi Edubio stressed the danger of giving out the party’s ticket to her, adding that this may lead to failure of the party to win election and stay through as there may be litigations prompting the demand for her to produce her certificate.

While asking the PDP to disqualify her from the party primary, Edubio called on party delegates not to vote Mrs Onofiok, so as to save the party of embarrassment that may come from post primary or post election litigations.

“I am appealing to all of you who are delegates not to vote for Chief Mrs Kenim Onofiok as her lack of eligibility to stand for this election will form a good reason for aggreived persons to go to court”, Edubio said.

It could be recalled that the Oron/Udung Uko State Constituency Seat is rotational between Oron and Udung Uko LGA.

Further findings reveal that whenever Udung Uko has the turn, either zone A or zone B in the area, would take the slot, depending on which of them had taken the last turn.

Our paper further gathered that Rt. Hon. Jerome Isangedighi from zone A in Udung Uko LGA, did two terms from 2007 to 2015, before the incumbent, Rt. Hon. Effiong Bassey from Oron LGA who is doing his two terms from 2015 to 2023.

In that manner, zone B in Udung Uko is said to be fairly on ground to produce the next member of parliament for the constituency.
